Ridge is correct in that, Stuff Black People Like would have NEVER been created if it weren't for the other list. My feeling at the time was, nice...another list on white people. To another Ridge point, people were rating, and race never entered any minds, until 1 guy "made a call". Similar to a ref calling a penalty before an infraction occurs. Other than some disagreements, I've never had a problem with Automatt, but his last action jumped out at me, as it did with others, I wasn't about to simply dismiss that.

I've gotta say, Wise that I didn't care for your list, and I didn't care for the "White" list, but I think admin handled this very badly.

The only similar thing between Wiseguy's list and the White People list is the title. How can you in good faith compare items like "Michel Gondry" and "North Face" in the white people list with "Smoking Crack" and "Killing Each Other" in the black people list? Are you flipping kidding me? Would you want that garbage on your site Ed?

I am serious sick of this poor wiseguy the victim crap. He's a big boy and can take care of himself. He knew what he was doing in creating that list - he was manufacturing a controversy, in what I see as a pretty spiteful way. If someone can show me one spiteful thing in the white people list I'd love to hear about it.

Mag, I don't criticize you for taking it down. I thought it was scurrilous. I think the other list is pathetic apology racism, and offensive for different reasons. I see racism as an insidious issue from both sides, and requires diligence from both sides.

The lists are not comparable. Wiseguy used race to try and make a political point about how much Republicans are discriminated against on RateItAll. I hate victimology, and I don't buy this for a second. And now he is the martyr? Show some sack people.

I don't see Wiseguy as a martyr. I see him as a contentious asshole. A contentious asshole who sometimes goes places I find uncomfortable. But I see a lot of other reviewers on here who say things and post lists I find disturbing. Bias is obvious, and unavoidable, and I do not criticize for it. Its a business, and you run it according to the guidlines you set, stated or not. But having said that, it is fair to point out perceived inconsistancies.

Mag, I don't want race hate promulgated. I don't find lists about "People who should die" appropriate, because I believe they generate hatred among unstable people. I think Wise was way over the line. I think he's got all the attention he wanted an more. I don't think he's a martyr, I think on this issue, he's a jerk. But the list should have been deleted, not relegated. Christophino should have been deleted, not disabled. But its your business, your call.

Interesting perspective on the Christophino stuff. I disabled him because I thought his schtick got old, I felt like he was mocking the community, and I felt that he couldn't possibly be a real account. I didn't find anything hateful about his "tanned and waxed" perspective though. I think you guys know by now what really gets me pissed - cheating, race hate, and threats upon other reviewers top the list. I will likely be formally lightening the site rules in a few weeks. I'm planning on reducing "no personal attacks" to "no physical threats" (personal attacks are really tough to moderate), and codifying our growing tolerance for profanity. One of the reasons I will feel comfortable doing this is because we will be introducing more advanced tools for blocking / filtering out things that a particular reader might not want to see. I am also considering a "no whining" rule. Just kidding. Of course, the global view will still be readily available. Restrictions on race hate stuff are not going anywhere though.

Am I trying to goat the site into admitting something they practice, you bet I am. To use words like there is some kind of Liberal conspiracy make yourselves out to be more important than you really are...and labeling me as playing victim in all this is simply a fabrication made up by people who can't stay on topic.
