Hanukkah 5

Today is Chanukah (there's dozens of ways to spell it) in the year of 5769. Regardless of the time of year, it's a good time for Jewish families to get together and celebrate one of the happier of Jewish Holidays. It is even more joyous to me this year, as yesterday was the Winter Solstice...the shortest day of the year...which means that every day for the next six months will be longer than the day before.

The down side is that Winter has just set in here in the Great Northwest and seems to stretch out before us with no end in sight and we'll just be able to see the frickin' snow for more hours every day...

Happy Hanukkah, Ridge. If such a wish from the goyim is worth anything.

Thanks, 'git. I'll toss a latke back for you...

Appreciate it. Haven't had a good one of those since I was in a Jewish Deli in Winnipeg. Maybe I should get Franks to ship me some.

Fresh, 'git...fresh. I'd be willing to coach you through it, if you ever get the hankering. I'm told that they come out better if you're circumcised...

I'm just back from having a bowl of matzoh ball soup and a half a pastrami sandwich at Oscar's Deli across the street from my office. I should asked if you wanted anything before I went.

A couple of knishes with mustard would have been nice...

A Jewish grandmother is giving directions to her grown grandson who is coming to visit with his wife on Hanukkah: "You come to the front door of the apartment complex. I am in apartment 14T. There is a big panel at the front door. With your elbow push button 14T. I will buzz you in. Come inside, the elevator is on the right. Get in, and with your elbow hit 14. When you get out I am on the left. With your elbow, hit my doorbell." "Grandma, that sounds easy, but why am I hitting all these buttons with my elbow"? "You're coming empty handed?"
