"Miami Vice" look 5

Well, Mike Vice, it's good to see someone else out there has the taste and clarity to know an awesome look, and the fortitude to go for it, no matter what the label-shirt and distressed jeans wearing pikers think. I made "Sonny" my own style almost two years ago, and doing so has taken my life to a whole new level. I always LOVED the 80s and DESPISED everything the contemporary had to offer. For a while I tried to play it straight with normal, non-descript clothes; but that conveyed neither my love for then or loathing for now. So I eventually just took the plunge. It took me a while to find the right attitude and presentation at first; there was a but of experimentation. But after paying close attention to a few episodes (you're right, seasons 1&2 were the best) and countless trips to thrift stores and ebay searches, I found a few choice ensembles that really make my presence known. Among my favorites are the blazers: 2 white silk, 1 salmon silk, 1 turquoise cotton, 2 black and white speckled silk yarn (see Florence, Italy episode), 1 off white poly, and 2 in black for those season 3 days. I also have a huge assortment of pastel and light colored tees. I usually gravitate towards the light purple/lavender/fuscia area, but also have a few blues, pinks, and a black and a white. The pants and shoes I wish were as diverse. I have 1 really good pair of pleated linen, and a couple so-so pairs. As I usually go with the good pair, it's become a little worn. I'm always looking for more. Same with the shoes. I only have 1 real pair of Sonny shoes, white leather with a mesh over the toes, only thing is they have black soles. White shoes with white soles; I'm beginning to think, may only have been available in South Florida boutiques in 1986. So in essence, I set out to become the (not an) 80s guy, and have succeeded admirably. Whether people love it (most do) or hate it (wankers), I am not ignored and am not forgotten, and it lets people know I have some big ol' brass balls to pull off something like this. A lot of girls are very keen to it, especially at last summer's Belinda Carlisle show where, in the whites, I was photographed more times than Bigfoot. So, in closing, kudos to you as a fellow man of vision. I just hope you don't live too close to me, because I also like being the only one doing it.

THis comment is for Viceman or--as he dubbed himself in an email to me--DefinitelyMiami. Viceman or DefinitelyMiami (I'll just call you Viceman for the sake of brevity), I did enjoy your two messages/emails to me that you made today Saturday 1/31/09 in response to my own comment posted on this rateitall board for some years now (and updated somewhat regularly). You see, Viceman, I am writing to you this way because--for the life of me--I can't figure out how to respond to your emails or original post made 12/28/2008. I'M TYPING NOW IN ALL CAPS TO (HOPEFULLY) CATCH YOUR ATTENTION, VICEMAN (OR DEFINITELYMIAMI AS YOU CALLED YOURSELF IN THE TWO EMAILS TO ME) , AND THEN PERHAPS YOU CAN TEACH ME HOW TO RESPOND TO YOU OR (MORE EASILY) JUST GIVE ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS jeffersonparke@aol.com, SO IF YOU WANT TO REPLY TO ME THAT WAY, THEN GO AHEAD. ANYWAY, IT IS NICE TO FIND A FELLOW VICER OUT THERE WHO LOVES WEARING AND APPRECIATES THE AESTHETICS OF THE DON JOHNSON LOOK OF THE FIRST TWO SEASONS. THE UNCONSTRUCTED SPORTJACKETS THROWN OVER T-SHIRTS AND MULTIPLEATED PANTS IN SHADES OF PINK, PEACH, LAVENDER, FUSCHIA, AND WHITE ARE CLASSIC AND--FOR ME AT LEAST--THEY WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE. I STILL DRESS IN A SIMILAR MANNER AS STATED IN MY POST, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO> I ALWAYS GO SOCKLESS IN MY WHITE SLIP-ON LEATHER SHOES, I ALWAYS WEAR A PREPETUAL 3-DAY GROWTH OF BEARD STUBBLE JUST LIKE DON DID. I DON'T WANT TO MAKE THIS COMMENT TOO LONG, IT'S BASICALLY TO SEE IF YOU CAN HELP ME KNOW THE COMPUTER MECHANISTICS OF REPLYING BACK TO YOU, SINCE I'M NOT COMPUTER SAVVY AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT. SO VICEMAN ( OR DEFINITELYMIAMI IF YOU PREFER), GIVE ME A SHOUT IF YOU WANT TO TEACH ME HOW WE COULD COMMUNICATE OR AT LEAST RESPOND TO EACH OTHERS' POSTINGS. MANY THANKS,
Mike Vice
