Dollar has fraudulent business practices. I rented from their Jersey City, New Jersey location. I upgraded my car ($53.50 total) and added a driver. When I checked my credit card bill, they had charged me over $75 JUST to add the driver. Exactly 1/4 the total of my entire rental. This cost was never disclosed to me. Clearly they were trying to get something past me because I NEVER would have agreed to this. When I called to inquire about the charge, the guy (who apparently was the owner) said, sorry, that is the cost. When I disputed because this cost was never disclosed to me, he just said there was nothing he could do. I told him I would file a complaint and dispute the charge, he said 'fine'. I will NEVER EVER rent from Dollar again, and highly warn anyone who considers renting from this location. I actually heard the guy talking on the phone while I was picking up the car about how he should charge more money for each rental. Clearly shady business practices.
