Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 1

I was working for Cracker Barrel and it has gotten horrid over the past year or so. The management has cut the servers down to two tables (one third of servers pay gone) so that they have more time to run trays, get bread etc... Besides that, managers are constantly yelling over the top of everyone. If you say anything negative to your co-workers, you end up in the office being advised to keep your thoughts to yourself. They make you feel like you are no more than a number. No matter how hard you work, it is never enough for them. No pat on the back or anything positive. You can NEVER do enough. Same servers get the same good sections and nothing is ever fair. It takes away your respect and greatly affects your attitude. I think everone will be seeing a not-so-good change in the restuarant people have known over the years. Portions are smaller, prices higher and the service not as good. Greed will be their ultimately downfall. Too bad they can't see it.

I also work for cracker barrel and hate my job which one do you work at? I also have found the same thing to be true at the one i work at. The ones to get good sections are the ones that suck up to managment. Is it corporate doing the 2 table section or is it up to the store? Its very hard to smile when you are constinatly getting yelled at or in trouble for something. I got in trouble we were not busy and i wasent walking with a sense of urgancy. They exspect you to bust your rear for 2 an hour when you get 2 tables and are not making very much in tips off of 2 tables the work load is horrible. It takes me an hour to 1 and a half hours to get sidework tables and silver done before i go home in that time we are not taking tables and still making 2 somthing an hour. Worst job ive ever had. I have been there 10 years things use to be alot better. Things are so bad i hate going into work. Also i have seen the quality off the work staff go down. Every week we have a new rule or two. I cant keep up with all the new rules. I put cornbread on plate with beans and got in trouble when its been like that for 10 years. I got in trouble for carring tray under arm when its been beat into my head for 10 years. They let new girls get away with anything and the staff thats been there for years are constiantly getting their rear ends road by managment.

i use to work at the cracker barrel in gastonia North Carolina we had the same thing going on there. i actually got fired for speaking my mind about the retail manager. that company is the worst company that i have ever seen. since they fired me a lot of the old cashiers quite, retail people quite, even one of teh managers that was like a mom to m e quite because they said that they would not work there if they got rid of me. what was really funny is they fired me 1 week before my year being with them. so i think that they had that set up. Well i hope things for the both of you look up.

It is the same at the Cracker Barrel I work at in Troutville, Virginia. NOTHING is fair. I make 1/4 what I made two years ago. The two table section is not enough to waste your time on. Funny how quick the rising stars and one par people get the good sections. I think it's also terrible that you are not allowed to even question anything without fear of losing your job or retaliation. We've watched our customer load go down and I think it is not so much the economy as it is the new way of doing business. If you are not good to your employees, it will affect the service they provide. They will soon see many of their long time employees leaving for greener pastures. It's just ashame that they are so blind that they can't see what is happening. I'm looking for another job with more tables and that cares more for their employees. Good luck to other CB employees.
