Regions Bank 5

Every bad review on here is the same thing: overdraft, overdraft, overdraft. Shut up, do your math better. I've had maybe 4 overdrafts in the 2 years I've banked with Regions, and guess what -- each time it was my own fault. Region's isn't a babysitter, nor is any bank. If you go over, then maybe you should take a banking class. Maybe banks are just better in Louisiana?

I'll admit, their employees are lacking in many qualities I look for in anyone who's servicing me for those minutes, but as a whole they're amazing. Anyone who's whining about customer service, I hope you're whining about CS for every other possible company because customer service always has, and always will be, full of shit.

Miotas, I do my math perfectly fine. Regions needs to go back to elementary school and learn the basics of adding and subtracting. I am not even talking about Overdraft charges, I am talking about BASIC ADDING AND SUBTRACTING. I have a substantial amount of money in my account and for some reason when .50 cents is charged, Regions deducts a dollar. Catch my drift. This has happened twice. THEY SUCK.

Oh yes, it's called the penny scam, and you should join the class action lawsuit against Regions. Go to badregions.com and look it up. Hundreds of people are trying to bring a class action lawsuit and sue for it right now.

I have been with this bank for 11 years..some overdrafts, accidents on my part or just not paying attention like I should. However I noticed this past year many disturbing things with this bank and have considered moving my account, after this past week..I cant get it closed fast enough. I had a automatic draft hit a week early, not regions fault, but at the time it tried to post my account was two hunderd dollars shy of having enough funds to pay this draft-- they took the money from my account (A huge amount) even though it should have been returned. Not only did they take the money out, but then return numerous items that were presented to be paid..when if the first check been returned as it should have been these items would have been paid. To make matters worse..four days later they return the money from the draft to my account as a credit stating the funds were insufficent to cover it! While charging me overdrafts for all the items that should have been paid had this item been returned when it was first presented. In short, they paid a check that the money was not in there to pay..bounced every thing else that came in behind it, then put the money back and returned the first check as well while still charging me for all the checks that would have been paid--how do you pay a check, then return it only after they collect hundreds of dollars in NSF fees? They want to blame the company that drafted the amount a week early, and they hold blame as well, but the money was not in there to pay the amount--so how do you soft post it..hold my money and wait until you bounce several checks only to put the money back that never should have been taken out..the funny thing is, the company that presented the draft never recieved it..the bank claims it was "pending" being returned for the four days they "held" my money while they returned items that should have been paid. It was a rip off from hell..unsound banking and in this economy it made me seriously quesiton the stability of this bank..so after ten years I am leaving Regions and I will do a check of all local banks before deciding where to go. I feel as if I were robbed, my trust in this bank is gone and honestly, I may just use the old coffee can and go back to paying my bills in person..it has really turned me off from online banking or automatic drafts as well as shown me what this bank is capable of doing to you in order to get your money.

I almost didn't even answer this post due to the fact it must be someone who is ignorant or nor fully reading these complaints. I was a customer at a previous bank 12 years and NEVER had one overdraft. I ALWAYS keep a paper trail of my spendings/earnings. Lately Regions has been very corrupt with the way they charge their fees. Every Friday I have a direct deposit go in at midnight. They put it online under pending by 2am. Then, at 6am I make a small purchase. Somehow they make sure it looks like I made that purchase first. My pending check deposit it put to second and my purchase is moved to the top to come out first. That way, they charge the overdraft. I showed my paper proof and a print out of their corruption by printing how their online banking transaction "mysteriously" change. Their response was...."sorry, we are told to put withdrawls first even if I deposit is also pending before hand". I then asked to speak to a superviser and was told... "That's just the way things shake up".

So while yes, I am sure some people do need to be more careful with their budgeting, etc. but not all who still fall victim. etheir way, REGIONS ARE THEIVES!!!!!!!

Let me ask,,.....Are you an employee? If so, you would know anyways.

No, I'm not an employee. I'm just someone who knows how banking works in the united states. I'm smart enough to know that not every purchase will pend for the same amount of time. I'd had McDonalds purchases take 5 days to go through, and sometimes 2 days sometimes 2 hours. I'm smart enough to say "Oh, paycheck still pending, I DON'T HAVE THAT MONEY YET!"

I've called customer service PLENTY of times. And they have helped me EVERY singly time. I had a $90 transaction pending before I realized my paycheck hadn't cleared yet. They worked with me to temporarily freeze that purchase until my check cleared and had enough funds to cover the charge.

Withdrawals will ALWAYS go first before a pending deposit, no matter what bank you're with. I have a friend who worked for a while with Chase before moving on to work with Bank of America, and guess what? They had the SAME policy.

"I have a substantial amount of money in my account and for some reason when .50 cents is charged, Regions deducts a dollar." That's because it costs more to run that transaction than what you charged to your account. Just about every company has that policy that if a purchase is under $5.00, you will be charged the processing fee. It's not the bank's fault that the company didn't notify you of that policy. But again, that will be any bank because that's just nearly EVERY company's policy. It costs a dollar to process your transaction no matter where you go. And some places will actually charge you more than that if you don't meet their minimum purchase requirements. Again, that isn't the bank's fault. That should be YOUR responsibility to know how a company will be processing your transaction just like when an ATM charges you to withdraw from or even check the balance of your account. Because Regions isn't a nationwide bank, they need to make their money where they can; in processing fees. If you're not happy with it, go ahead and go to another bank. You'll just get the same service with a different name.
