Science Diet 1

Science Diet is one of the lowest quality foods out there. It's main ingredient is corn! Dogs like people dont digest corn. Corn contains aflatoxins which is a naturally occurring fungi that grows on corn, soy, and even peanuts. These aflatoxins are deadly to your dog. This can cause things like pancreatic cancer, liver disease, UTIs, which can lead to bladder problems and kidney failure! I work at a pet supplies store and most of our foods are holistic but we carry science diet because it is a business and our owner likes the popularity of it...a science diet representative told our employees that we are NOT ALLOWED to show our customers the ingredient pannel...obviously there is something to hide. And for the person who said you need to be an expert to know this stuff...you dont...it just takes a little knowledge, research and experience and most importantly common sense to know what is good for your dog. veterinarians know nothing about nutrition...science diet funds vet schools and brainwashes them to believe science diet and corn is good for your dog. its not! if you want a good brand of dog food...try the Natura products like Innova and Healthwise or Merrick or Before Grain. Stay away from "Science" Diet...try something holistic...for the well being of your dog.

All you have to do is research Science Diet to know it is no good. I work in a pet store also and carry the horrific brand. Science Diet bribes you to carry their product. They will send in secret shoppers and if you recommend them you will occassionally get a fifty dollar visa checkcard. If you don't recommend them they will take away there everyday "low pricing" it is such a crock. I get into a fight with the reps everytime they come in. We are trying to get my boss to wisen up and tell them that he will stop carrying their product. He hasn't agreed yet because he seems to think that if it is available it can't be all bad. What is Science Diet gonna do take their product out of our store if we don't comply? So long! I tell him if he threatens to stop carrying them I quarentee they would rather us keep our "low pricing" than get rid of them completly. Please if you care about your pets don't feed them Science Diet they are a bunch of phonies. Just look at the ingredient list it wil tell you everthing you need to know! Last thing if you think you are better off with their Natures Best formula you would be mistaken again brewers rice is alcohol factory run off and they claim to be 100% made in the U.S however our rep told us that the broccoli comes from Germany and the carrots from Poland or vise versa I forget. They can claim to be made in the U.S because the products are shipped here and it is "made" or "put together here" Don't be fooled!!!

I agree with both of you. I work at a petstore and we carry really good food and then we also sell Eukanuba, Iams, S.D and Nutro. We sell more Holistic than the crap. We were told that it is a Job requirement to sell S.D and if we atleast dont recommend it then we lose our "discount" as well. We can show the ingredients and how much to feed guideline. We just can say negative things about it. lol. We went to a SD seminar last yr and they told us that if you dont feed ur cat/dogs this food then you might as well buy them a coffin and shovel because you are killing them. Holy crap!

What I personally dont understand is how S.D ingredients are similar to Purina, Iams and Eukanuba but sell it for $52.99!! If you're willing to spend that much then go buy Eagle Pack, Merrick or even Wellness. You get a better quality, your dogs eat less, poop less and have a healthier life in the long run.
