Education 5

ok. here's the thing i am a teacher. i went through all the avenues and all the courses and will be doing my student teaching soon. i work as an assistant teacher right now and i had a lot of input when i was in high school. with that being said, if you haven't done any of this than please refrain from talking. no one should be telling me how to run my class or teach my subject area. also parents who normally do not care about their children anyway bcause they "can't come to parent-teacher conferences because of other things" shouldn't be telling me what i can't teach. you do not plan my lesson i do and the state apparently has no problem with it.
also nclb act was a joke. it didn't help schools. that we all agree on. however the parents in many districts don't say yes to a lot of levies that are very much needed because they feel we have the money in other areas. there is no money, just other organizations for different aspects of the school. like boosters for sports.

Do you plan on teaching capitalization?

I have two children in the public school system and I do have the right to be informed about the curriculum, what's going on in the classroom and the school and how my kids are doing. I also have the right for my feedback to be taken into consideration when the teacher and school administrators are planning what happens in the classroom, thank you very much. I have found it works best when both parties understand and respect this relationship. If found it very miserable when teachers suggest that parents butt out. If your experience (limited thought it sounds to be) is that parents haven't been interested or involved in their children's education, then that sucks for you and your kids. But in the admittedly reasonably-well-off middle class neighbourhood I live in, it is by a long shot the exception.

what i am saying is that you shouldn't come in and say, " my say is the only one that matters and you can only teach what i want." i have to teach to all and it's terrible when parents come in thinking they are in charge and when they find out that they aren't they demand i or another be fired and/or they remove their child. i spoke without elaborating because i was upset with certain comments that had been made. but i agree that you should have a say but you should also have the consideration to understand where the teacher is coming from and we did go to school and how to approach certain subjects.
