Budapest, Hungary

I've been in Hungary for some years and living amongst the Hungarians. Not some "expat areas" like Buda where they may treat you better thinking you some diplomats.
I have to agree with a reviewer who said something about how Hungarians treat foreigners when you live among them. Those who gives great reviews, I believe may have been living or lived in some good tourist areas or expat areas.
I could only find a handful of people who would actually help you if you are in trouble. Again I say not all of them are unhelpful, but many are. You don't speak Hungarian, they treat you like nothing. They expect foreigners to speak their language but they themselves refuse to speak any other language but their own. Few would want to speak to you in English, even if they can speak.
Why can't the country be more foreigner friendly? More English here and there? Wouldn't their people benefit from it too instead of having to pay thousands for English lessons which in the end they can't even use in their country? They even dubbed every bloody English program. (Saw once they even dubbed a news reader reading news on BBC or CNN) If they are from some well off family, they'd send their children abroad to learn English or pay for a native English speaker to teach their kids. Don't even have someone who can speak proper English in their customer support - big companies like T-mobile, UPC etc. You don't have anyone who can speak Hungarian with you, then you're in big trouble.
I speak a little Hungarian, but learning the language is becoming much much more difficult because the way people treat people (they even treat their own people badly) - sorry to say I simply feel a little hatred even for the language.
Any experience teach us something. One big thing I learn here is to appreciate my own country. It's not in "wonderful Europe", but it is foreigner friendly, people smile more, aren't as rude, as long as you can speak English you can still survive alone.
That's enough about the people - I do have a lot to complain about the mentality of the people here. LOL
About the architecture and nature. I can say, yes they are lovely. :) The only sad thing is the graffittis. Beautiful buildings just vandalized by their own people. Not to mention dirty. But hey, which big city in the world ain't dirty eh? If you want to come to Budapest for the sight (beautiful buildings and the nature) I guess it is worthy. But for the sake of culture or people, hmmm don't think so.
