Dependence on Foreign Oil 4

I favor R&D effort and dollars for alternative fuels as much as anyone. Eventually some combination of these will replace oil as our primary source of energy; but realistically this is at least twenty years down the road.
Here in the US, we are dependent on oil and we have an abundant supply. Talking of alternative energy sources does not address this truth; nor does it address the insanity of government policies that prohibit drilling here. That is the reason we are dependent on foreign oil.
