Ferret
4
Great pets for those willing to put in the time that it take to care for TWO! Ferrets do best in pairs or more and need much out of cage time, at least 2 hours a day allowed out side the cage. They eat and poop a lot (about every 2 hours) and have a very distinct smell.
They are NOT rodents, they are weasels and like to explore and find things you'd prefer them not to if not kept under supervision. they have the personality of something in between a cat a dog and a 2 year old child.
They get along with other household pets if raised with them or introduced properly. Not ALL of them do, just like no all cats like other cats and such.
I have 4 of my own and they have their own room which they share with my office and like to climb into every box and crevasse. Must keep watch for wire chewing and that they don't eat anything they shouldn't.
They require a LARGE cage and plenty of water, food and toys. They particularly like cat toys. Feathers are a favourite.
They can be a very costly pet and should get regular vet visits. Because they are an exotic you will need a vet that specializes in them.
Poor breading has lead to many getting adrenal disease and should be regularly checked.
