Laszlo is one of my new favorite bars in the Mission. The ambiance is cool....quite different from a majority of other bars in the neighborhood. The theme is Russian Constructivism, but they don't overdo it...there are a few amazing original posters and prints, dark walls and a heavy steel door that evoke the proverbial Iron Curtain...overall the place is classy without being pretentious.

Staff is friendly...hipster, but without the attitude which is a refreshing change for the Mission. They have Trumer Pils bottles for $2 at happy hour. You really can't beat that unless you settle for PBR somewhere dirty :)

They also have a DJ in there after 9pm. Mix is been eclectic and cool, not so loud that you can't hear your friends, but enough to fill silences if you're on an awkward date.

Laszlo doesn't really get crowded until late, but that seems to be a bit of a trend in the Mission these days. They also have a couple outdoor tables if you're looking for a different vibe. Check it out as a GREAT substitute for the nearby Medjool which is overrated, overpriced, and full of bridge-and-tunnel folks on weekends anyhow.
