Bil-Jac 2

I feel so bad for all those out there that are not knowledgeable about what a "good" dog food is and should be. I had a friend that was a firm believer in only giving her dogs the very best food. I don't think she read the label as to what was going into her 4 dogs. You see, I use to have a pug who was exclusively fed Bil Jac. She did well on it and her fur was shiny and she seemed very healthy. Yes, I didn't have to worry about the dog food recall a couple of years back, but in today's society, we are told to read labels.........Bil Jac's first four ingredient is: 1. Chicken By-Products, 2. Chicken, 3. CORN, 4. Chicken By-Product MEAL. Now if you do your research and you want to give you dog the very best food, you will know that you will want to stay away from CORN, WHEAT, By-Products, and SOY. So I have switched back to Blue Buffalo again and am actually looking to switch to Life's Abundance.

So it is all up to the individual as to what they want to buy. I would NOT say by any means that this is the BEST dog food out there on the market. For the price of the dog food there are other dog foods that are better for your companion and this stuff. But don't get me wrong, I use to once in my life think that this was the best food for my pug!

Good luck in finding the dog food that works best for your dog.

Actually, the first ingredient is
1. Chicken
2.Chicken by-products ( organs only )
3.Corn
4.Chicken by-product meal

I've seen a lot of people like to switch the first ingredient around as if it helps their poor review of a great product.

Actually, Satellite, according to the Bil Jac website, the ingredients for Bil Jac Adult Select are as follows, copied and pasted directly from their site:

"Chicken By-Products (Organs only, Including Chicken Liver), Chicken, Corn, Chicken By-Product Meal, Dried Beet Pulp, Brewers Dried Yeast, Cane Molasses, Egg Product, Salt, Sodium Propionate (a preservative), DL-Methionine, L-Lysine, Vitamin A Acetate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Niacin, Biotin, Choline Chloride, Folic Acid, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin B12 Supplement, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Manganous Oxide, Inositol, BHA (a preservative), Ferrous Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Cobalt Carbonate, Potassium Iodine, Sodium Selenite."

Corn and by-products have no place in pet food, nor does beet pulp, molasses, or table salt. And BHA, the preservative they use, is a proven toxin and potential carcinogen.

Again according to the Bil Jac website, the only foods with real meat as the first ingredient (chicken) are puppy and large breed puppy formulas.

all i can say is when we first bought our pug at 10 weeks old from a very loving and responsible breeder she said all of her dogs (which were all beautiful) ate biljac. so after reading all these dog rating sites with the 5star and on down, i decided to try bluebuffalo, our poor pug was an itchy, scratchy mess! then we tried natural balance duck potato
for him and still itching like crazy until he bled! so after about 6 months of thinking i was doing the best for our dog (and 200$) vet bill for antibiotic and steroid shot to calm his allergic response, i got to thinking about when did our dog feel and look his best? on BILJAC! like others say it might not work for every dog for whatever reason, but as far as some of those 5star rated foods go,dogs arent rating the food, people are! c'mon now people, lighten up. some of these people preaching about natural and holistic food are on the lunatic fringe it sounds to me. i dont knock you for feeding your dogs holistic food if it works for them, but chill out knocking biljac which works wonders for my pug! hes not itching himself to pieces anymore and couldnt be any happier or healthier. he spins around in circles and dances when he sees me getting ready to put his food into his bowl!yumyum!
