DIRTY BANK; TO THE CORE
I have decided that the only thing worse than a bank these days, is a bank entity whose days are numbered such as Wachovia (it has been bought by Wells Fargo) but the name has not yet changed.
I have been a customer of World Savings which is now Wachovia for years and had numerous accounts and a mortgage with them. Never, has anyone said anything about a hold on deposits. I recently deposited a large cashier's check from a major bank, literally one block away from the Wachovia branch. It was my assumption that a cashier's check is treated like cash. I put the money in the account so I could be the responsible person and pay my bills on time.
Long story short, I was charged $200.00 in overdraft fees for using the account since the check was on hold, even though the money was there! Nobody, but nobody told me there would be a hold on the check. I told the management that I would have never deposited that large check had I known because I had to use the money immediately. I was so livid. I did get the local manager to knock $100.00 off but that is all they will do.
Ironically, Wachovia has this irritating habit of calling my cell phone after I have been in their bank to see how the customer service was and if Jane Teller provided good service. After much arguing and debate and their hiding behind the fact that they hadn't made a bank error so they did not have to fix it, I assured them that THIS was a customer service issue if I ever saw one!!!
The management is like a bunch of puppets; they all sound alike and nobody steps out of the little pecking order. I am out of there. I opened an account at Bank of the West. The woman at BOW told me that they would have simply verified the funds of the cashier check....duhhh.
Wachovia is all about ripping people off in the gray areas and doing it with those sugary sweet smiles on their faces. I told the managers that they are going to be thinking about this when Wells takes over and replaces them.
