Lifetime Fitness Club 2

So we went to LF for our first trip and were completely healthy when we went in. However when we came out one of children had the FLU by the next afternoon!! The dr said he had to have picked it up from somewhere (and that's the only place we had been) and that it was the rarest type of flu - not even treatment for the strand of flu he had and that he would have to suffer if out! With as bad off as he is there clearly were sick/infected kids allowed in the children's area for him to have picked this up from. I am very upset about this and am very hesitant about returning with him, which will mean I just have to cancel all together b/c I can't go w/o him. There's no time otherwise! Plus I don't like how you have to have your card instead of license or something for ID b/c once you have your stuff in your locker you have to leave your locker unlocked to drop off/pick-up your kids since you have to have your membership card to do it. We went to the pool and then them to the childcare center and me to workout and I wanted to just leave my stuff in the locker while they were there and while I worked out, but I had to take my card out whick put my locker key in to go drop them off. Otherwise I would have had to lug everything with me to drop them off and then go put it back in the locker room afterwards.. not very tiem efficient or convienent!!

I don't go to this fitness center, but you are seriously not wanting to go because your kid got the flu? Newsflash: children are germ factories. And, that's the ONLY place you had been with the child in the past 48 hours? Children can pick up things from ANYWHERE, even from you if you have gone somewhere, touched something, and it somehow came in contact with his little mouth or snotty nose before you washed your hands. Your immune system is more built up than his, so you could have carried it without being symptomatic. Point is, your child getting the flu after going somewhere is no reason to never take your child there again. Not to mention, the flu is the flu. You don't cure viruses you wait until they're done. Everyone is going to get sick at some point with something, and most have had the flu. I'm sorry, I hate to be harsh, but the fact that you are even considering that a facility could control the existence of viruses or bacteria within their property is just silly. Yes, there are measures to be taken, and if your child had contracted staff or hepatitus I'd be a bit alarmed. But the flu? Seriously?

The membership card/locker card fix is easy. If you go to the customer service desk, they can issue you another card. That way you will have two cards - one for your locker and one for checking the kids in and out. My LT was really good about letting me know about this option.

Did you make sure that your child used the provided hand sanitizer before and after your visit to the child care center? That's one thing for sure I make my kids do each visit. That could help with them not getting sick.
