Kay Jewelers 1

One step up from Target/Sears.

Diamonds are of very low quality. They do not have any Fire, sparkle scintillation under regular lighting.

The staff are somewhat friendly but do not know much about diamonds at all, even though they claim to. Typically, jewelers should know much more then just the infamous "4Cs", but they were not even familiar with what Ideal-scope/Aset-scope images are (images used by labs to detect how well the diamond will perform) nor did they know much about well-proportioned pavilion/crown angles on a diamond. With just a few hours of research anyone would be able to exceed the knowledge of most people working there.

I'm a Store Manager from the Kay Jewelers in PA. I have 5 Diamontologists on staff and 3 Gemologists. We've been certified by the Diamond Council of America, which is an extremely reputable source. In my store if your NOT a Diamontologist you are not allowed to show Engagement rings, wedding bands, or and Certified earrings of pendants until you become Certified. You commented that our diamonds are vey low quality and that makes me wonder how much YOU actuallys know about diamonds. In our store you get what you pay for. ALL of our diamonds are AT least near coloreless. In the Clarity scale we carry all types from VVS1-I2.. The average income household can't afford to puchase VVS1 stones for ever occasion, usually this type of quality is limited to the Engagement Ring. Therefore, most of our pendants, earrings, and cocktail rings are in the I1-I2 range, however, if you wanted to get that piece in an SI2 and were willing to pay more for the quality we can get it in the store for you. Did you forget that Kay Jewelers is an Nationwide company? We're not just located in high end cities, we need to keep our jewelry affordable for America.
