Colorado Technical University Online 2

I am both an online and traditional brick and mortar CTU student with straight A's, here in Colorado. I am also a graduate of a University of Phoenix online degreed program, as well as Strayer University (brick and mortar). CTU does have it's good aspects, but it's hit or miss with the instructors. Some are great and some you wonder if they're truly qualified to teach (in this country at least). Online, UoP is a much better learning experience than CTU. There's much more student interaction and meaningful, real world projects. CTU actually seems a bit mediocre online, where you barely have to read the books and the teachers give you the answers to everything you need to post beforehand. It is easy if that's what you're looking for.

CTU seems to have a tendency of stating one thing, and then later you find out it's not true (consumer fraud has been mentioned in the hallways). For instance, in the surgical tech program they claim as you're registering to be a certified program, only to find out later that's not the case. They're working feverishly to correct this, but only after collecting thousands of dollars from misinformed students, and if they are not certified by the time you graduate then you are ineligible for that certification test as well. The main concern many of us have experienced though, is the need to take courses we don't need (mainly if you have carry over credits) in order to maintain financial eligibility, because they don't have or can't attract qualified teachers for the program they've advertised. This can get expensive. Also, they tend to push you into retaking classes you may have had in another school, stating that it doesn't meet their requirements, yet from several of our experiences their courses are easier. Most classes are easy A's if you pay, and do the simple assignments. Almost seems like a degree mill. It's a money making machine. If you are starting from scratch with no previous credits, it's an okay school, but if not, find someplace else. If you are a working professional looking for an online school, I would recommend UoP by far over CTU.

I disagree, I have not started CTU yet but UoP interactions were not the greatest for me but you have to consider that everyone is different and in your eyes, their interactiion was better because it was best suited for you, it wasnt for me, I hated the forums that you had to wait forever and a day for someone to answer back , I enjoy the idea of being in a chat room instant messaging environment, but that suits me better but it may not for other students, I didnt care for them and the fact they knew when my work time was and if they didnt, I contacted them and messaged them many times that I coud not answer during the day and gave them a time they coud reach me at and they didnt work with me on that when I was informed that they woud. So, its based on what fits you and that university did not for me but if it is working for you then thats great, wish it did for me because I was just one year away from a associates in a degree that had nothing to do with what I wanted yet they assured me it was, Id stand it for just a bit more than gain that degree. Best of wishes to you in your career
