Minnesota 5

If I had 100 stars I'd give them to this state. I LOVE IT! It's beautiful. Lots of woods, lakes and deer, friendly people, lots of things to do, and the perfect climate. The winter actually isn't too bad, it just lasts a bit longer than in most states. The summers are perfect. Not too hot and not to cold. This state is like part of me and who I am, as corny as it sounds. Don't be too quick to judge this state, because all you have to do is dig a a little deeper than just the metro.(though I do love it there too, I just think that up north is better because I'm from there.) One more thing, WE DON'T HAVE ACCENTS! You might say we do, but there are only a few people you run across that do.

Ok, I understand you like the place, and that`s fine. I kind of like it myself. But lets not get carried away. The winters are horrid. Maybe you`re used to 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad sledding, but I don`t think winters are the place to defend this state

The winters are NOTHIN' compared to Manitoba. We Manitoban's who are all displaced Icelanders consider Minnesotans to be from the Scandanavian Caribbean.

They do have cute accents though.

Having spent one winter in Manitoba, and visited or worked there during three others, I have yet to understand why anyone lives in the province. Its the only place I know that you need a heater to keep your block heater warm.

FranksWildYears commented 206 days ago.
Clearly your family isn't from Iceland.

One letter off.

We like it to rain 187 days a year, be misty and dank for another 148, and sunny for the remaining 30 to allow the barley harvest to happen.

They do have cute accents Frank. Chicks from Wisconsin do too.

Well, been a full minnesotan (lifer).....I have mixed emotions.... love the state, love the scenery, don't mind a warm winter. But when the winters are super cold, then it sucks.... nothing worse than walking outside and having booger icicles, lmao! As a MN girl, I also don't think we have accents, but Mike has told me I have one lol.....BUT if another person mentions they loved FARGO, the movie, UGH we do NOT talk like that.

FranksWildYears commented 206 days ago.
You certainly don't have an accent in your posts.

sk4u2009 commented 206 days ago.
LOL nope.... not usually.... unless I say YA lmao!

sk4u2009 commented 206 days ago.
hey now!! what is wrong with those words?? *blushes bright red*

Astromike commented 206 days ago.
nothing. We said it was cute didn't we? Dont forget Im from up north too and I still call coke "pop" sometimes, and the livingroom the "parlor".

sk4u2009 commented 206 days ago.
LOL i still call coke "Pop"..... living room has never been the parlor... at least for me. I hear that, and i think back to the 1800's...... lolol.... and for the record, yes you did....... I like your accent too though...

Yes it is beautiful. I live there and even vacationed there on the North Shore of Lake Superior last year.

But really - come on, the winters are pretty dreadful. I agree, there are places where the winters are colder, like parts of Canada, Alaska, the North Pole, Mars, etc. but that offers little consolation to me at minus 30, when my nostrils turn crunchy as soon as I step out of the door.

All of the creatures that naturally live there are way hairier than humans. It is a testament to our ingenuity and endurance that we can even survive in such inhospitable surroundings, let alone build the biggest mall in the US.

But by and large - I like the place overall! Yes indeed.
