After first hearing this album, I loved thinking that I could indeed be a fan of mainstream music. After going back and listening to Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, A Tribe Called Quest, Ice Cube, Bowie, the Stones, Zeppelin, the Sex Pistols, De La Soul, and the Jungle Brothers to name a few; I can now see the lack of deph or insight in Durst's lyrics. Sure his anger is very easy to catch on to but its based on mindless, self-absorbed hate, not really giving a real messege like Ice Cube did in the controversial "Death Certificate" or Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, or Trent Renzner in their angst ridden lyrics. Unfortunatly, I was hooked on this album and Chocolate Starfish, constantly cursing out my ex-girlfriend and loved the catchiness of it all. After going back to a few classic rock and rap artists, I will never go back to listening to Limp Bizkit unless someone asks to put it in the CD player. By the way, if you want to listen to a much better rap-rock combination check out 311. They have more meaningful lyrics and are overall a superior band.
