Mary Kay 2

I am not a fan of Mary Kay. It is the type of brand you get guilt-tripped into purchasing because your friend is a consultant. They used to rely heavily on animal-testing so buyers should be aware that many of their most popular products that have been around forever are the result of cruelty to animals. I think products feel cheap on the skin and generally boycott them.

I sell Mary Kay and am a huge animal lover. Yes it is true they used to test on animals - as did all of the Makeup lines that have been around for a long time. BUT, Mary Kay is the first cosmetics company to ban testing on animals.

I find it quite interesting that we will go and give our money to huge retailers and think nothing of it, but if someone we know is selling a product that is good for our skin, uses safe practices (both environmental and humane), and can offer it for a reasonable price with excellent customer service one is being guilt tripped into buying the product. Mary Kay Inc., offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee - so if one is not happy with the product they can either exchange it or request a full refund.

This is a very upstanding company. Mary Kay started her company with the same product her father developed to keep his hands smooth. You see, he worked hard in the fields and then had to milk cows too. His rough hands hurt the cows udders and this bothered him. So he developed a product that kept his hands soft so the cows would not suffer being milked. I guess you could say this was the first form of animal testing and the company hadn't even been developed yet - she was a young child when he developed this product.
