Ol' Roy 1

My 11 year old Welsh Corgi just died from Kidney Disease. She was diagnosed in November and passed away in May. She had been fed Ol Roy her whole life. Unfortunately, I was unaware at the time how bad this food was for her. It was the biggest mistake of my life feeding her this food. Please research dog food before buying.

My condolences for the loss of your Corgi. It's never pleasant to lose a beloved pet. However, you cannot blame Ol' Roy. I have been feeding my 3 dogs Ol' Roy for years, including my 14-yo German Shepherd mix and a 13-yo Jack Russell. Both are in excellent health. My vet keeps track of what food his patients eat, and says there is definitely no correlation between eating Ol' Roy (which is the most popular brand among his patients, and the largest seller overall) and kidney disease, or any other disease, for that matter. Several years ago Consumer Reports tested pet foods for nutritional value, and Ol' Roy came out right on top of the list. Unfortunately, all creatures, including us, have to die of something. It isn't always diet related. My sister-in-law, age 60, died 3 months ago from kidney disease, and she never ate an ounce of Il' Roy in her life. So there's no need to blame yourself for feeding her Ol' Roy. When it's time to go, it's time to go. It's just nature's way.

Actually, I can blame Ol' Roy. I find it hard to believe your veterinarian sees nothing wrong with your dogs or their patients eating this food. Type in "Ol roy reviews" on Google.. you won't find one good review, unless it was written by you. It's junk. It's made by Wal-mart. So next time you want to reply some junk to my post saying it was my corgi's "time to go," do some research on the food, and change your vet while you're at it!

I love how "It's made by Wal-Mart" has become an instant method of identifying a bad product. They may not have your best interests in mind, but how many companies really do?

I love how you don't read the entire post and see that my basis of the product being junk isn't just because it's made from Wal-Mart. This is just ONE of the several examples you can find online about this dog food:

Obviously twansalem is a Wal-Mart door greeter so his opinion is biased.

VETS don't care about what your dog eats. Will people ever realize this? They took 1 class in 1 semester about dietary needs for animals, that's all. They don't really know a lot about dog food and get paid by Science Diet and what not to promote that type of food. You will rarely find a vet who has taken side courses on dietary needs but there are a few out there and THEY would tell you any food that doesn't begin with an ACTUAL meat product is garbage. Plain and simple.

Did your Vet actually do tests to say for sure what your dogs Kidney Disease was caused by and if so could you provide a copy of the Autopsy?
I am really interested in seeing some solid evidence...I know alot of purebred dogs have all kinds of genetic problems and alot of times food has nothing to do with it....

Dont be such a loser that you ask this person for a copy of their autopsy. This is not Michael Jackson were talking about here its a persons dog.
