Genetically Modified Food 5

When you see strawberries, lemons and blueberries the size of a small dogs head in the produce aisle, chances are it is a GMO food.

Just as troubling is the use of high fructose corn syrup as a substitute for sugar in most packaged products, along with aspartame, MSG and gluten, all of which have been implicated in causing diabetes, heart disease, neurological disorders and cancer. And the use of toxic pesticides on produce is just as damaging.

People don't seem to realize that what they eat has a profound effect on their health.

So think twice before you eat something out of a can or package, or pop open a can of diet soda. It can be very damaging to your health.

GMO foods are just the tip of the iceberg. My advice is be a smart consumer.

I agree, but it's not quite that easy when corporations aren't required to label their products honestly.

true, a lot of times we're really shooting blind into the wind when it comes to what we eat.

But those Great Dane Stawberries are soooo tasty.

lol....I've personally found that the bigger the strawberry, the more sour it tastes. GMO (and non-GMO hybrid) foods tend to play to our expectations of the appearance of fruits and vegetables to convert a sale in the aisle versus flavor on the plate.

That's quite true Lena, and as I stroll down the isles I've found myself becoming less and less attracted to the juicy, plump looking fruits. Same feeling goes to the breast implants.

they do use additives to make food look more appealing to the eye. Market studies have proven that people will buy better looking fruits and vegetables over those which are smaller or contain blemishes.

Just as a side to what Fitman said, a lot of companies tend to hide what they put in food by giving food additives different names. For example MSG goes by a lot of different names like "hydrogenated protein" or "soy lechitin". That's what I mean when I say that's you've got to be a smart consumer and know what's in your food.

I cannot speak to the flavor of breast implants :P

the juicy plump looking fruits referenced are produce, right?

cyclee commented 162 days ago.
What other juicy plump looking fruits do you shop in isles, now I really wonder Franks.

FranksWildYears commented 162 days ago.
I'm just askin'.....

Hey... what about us nuts?

cyclee commented 162 days ago.
Plumped and juicy nuts? Are they better than dry and shriveled varieties?

Lena commented 162 days ago.
obviously.

FranksWildYears commented 162 days ago.
Sorry Ab, my fault it would seem.
