Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul 2

Okay.........i am trying to find an inexpensive premium dry dog food that has the best ingredients, so that your dog is healthy, and all i am finding are a bunch of consumer complaints. I am so confused. I am using Nutro Natural Choice, thinking it is good for my puppy, but she is still throwing up.......i need to find a good food that is healthy for her and stops her from throwing up........any suggestions?????????????so far, I have checked into this one, Nutro, Royal Canin and Canidae, with no luck.........

A great website to check out is petfoodauthority.com - you can compare many different foods, prices and ingredients - I also think they have the best prices online (if you shop online).

IMPORTANT: If your dog is throwing up more than one time you need to take her to the vet!

Dogs lose a lot fast after throwing up. And this can make her worse over time. The vet may give your dog a shot or medication to stop the probable gastrointestinal infection your dog may have after trying different foods, if it's not something else. ANY change in your dog's diet can hurt them. So introduce any food or treat to them carefully and slowly.

I put warm tap water in my dog's dry food. Dry food causes more diarrhea. Never warm it up in the mircowave or never put too hot of water bcs it kills the enzymes in the dog food.

I use Canidae bcs of it's natural enzymes that help their digestive tract to break down food. My dogs stopped shedding after I put them on this. I feed them morning and evening based on the label amount.

Human food is usually very bad for them due to the high salt content. Other human food that is TOXIC to them is: Garlic, Onions, Tomatos, Grapes, Raisens, any pork and ham products, and chocolate. Google for a longer list. You may not see the negative effects immediately from her eating any of these. But it definitely hurts her liver, pancrease and other organs over time. And I don't give them treats that will grow in their stomach, like raw hides.

I feed my dogs a little bit of chicken boiled in water with nothing else in the chicken. They like the broth with it. Just not to much. And I give them a little brown rice I micro in 1 minute from the Bird's Eye brand. It's in the freezer section and it has NO butter or flavorings added. I don't give this to them often. But it helps their immune system in the winter.

Disclaimer: This is what has worked for me and my dogs. It's up to you if you want to take my advice, or not. I am not a vet and cannot replace one.

Also, be careful when you're buying dog food just bcs it's cheap.

But also be careful not to buy it just bcs it's expensive. Price does not always indicate quality in dog food. Unfortunately the gov't does not regulate the dog food industry. Companies do exist that do not do the right thing and make safe or quality dog food.

Personally, my friends and I do NOT like Science Diet. We've had bad experiences with it. We think that it has something in it to make dogs grow faster. Not good if that's what it's doing.

Just don't change your dog's diet often. That will solve at least part if not the whole problem once you get her on the right food. And make sure she always has water available and is actually drinking it.

And.... you might want to consult a person who breeds the breed of dog you have. They can usually tell you what your type of dog can be allergic to. And give you a lot of other advice. I don't mean talk to just anyone who breeds one of their pets. But a professional breeder who probably has a website.
