Rush Limbaugh Show 4

He's been around for 20 years. He has the highest listenership (is that a word?) at roughly 20 million weekly. He's armed with facts to back up his arguments, and he can certainly pontificate: he does not often take listener's calls, and he virtually never has any guests on his program, so that most of each show is him speaking (which is why I prefer to listen to other shows).

I'm new to RateItAll, and this may be sacrilege, but I don't care; I have a point to make.

For the person who cast a disagree vote: what exactly do you disagree with in my review? Let me confine this to something more manageable:

1) 'he's been around for 20 years'...that's a FACT, and not open to anyone's opinion
2) 'doesn't often take calls...virtually no guests'....that's a FACT, and not open to anyone's opinion
3) 'most shows are of him speaking'...that's a FACT, and not open to anyone's opinion
4) 'can pontificate'...more wiggle room for you here, but not much more, unless you are shaky on the definition of pontificate
5) 'armed with facts to back up his arguments'....this is the only point I made that's truly subject to
any disagreement, so......

Perhaps you'd do me a favor and in a short paragraph state your case, I have been known to change my mind.
Nothing wrong with disagreement at all, but once in a while I think those casting that vote should back it up. This could apply to 'helpful' or 'funny' votes as well.
Thank you.

haha, fair point. The disagree is not from me... but, my guess is it's from someone who doesn't agree with a "good" rating for Rush Limbaugh. Anything remotely political around here will likely get inflated numbers of agree and disagree votes.

Magellan's explanation is correct, but incomplete.

You might as well get used to irrational funny and disagree votes, 'cause they're inevitable.

In this case, I gave you a funny for your earnest plea for rationality in an irrational world.

Thanks, Magellan!
I understand that. My mind is on the horseshit banter that fronts for thoughtful discourse in our culture (sometimes my mind is on other things to, like eating, sleeping, sex, money....).
I see these assinine cat fights in comment sections, and often a certain poster with a spent cigarette in his avatar is involved.
I'm challenging readers of this of this post and the one who cast that 'disagree' vote to consider something else; something thoughtful, something well considered, something......grown up.
A lot of what I see here I can get from the bloviating 'talking heads' crap on ANY cable or network news shows (and not risk repetitive motion injury).
Thanks again for commenting....I'd give it a 'helpful' and an 'agree' if I could!

And thanks to you as well, Fit, for your response.
Being the type of guy I am, and the style in which I speak and write, I will have higher 'disagree' totals, and lower 'funny' totals.
As to an irrational world, you are spot on. However, it is only as rational or it's opposite as we in concert make it.
And I am trying, literally every day of my life, to be an agent of sanity.
Thanks again.

You're welcome.

BTW... My enormous tally of funny votes was mostly accumulated during a period when disagree wasn't an option, though wingers still give me them when they have no rational response to my assertions and/or opinions.

For the second part (after the comma) of your comment: yes, I certainly understand that to be the case, in or out of cyberspace.
But if you can stand a pointed observation from me....please try not to engage in that yourself. That back and forth you had with Wiseguy under this same item was, well.........I'll let you provide the adjective.
And again, thank you.

The disagree isn't from me either, although I find Limbaugh to be boring, predictable and uninteresting.

I'll echo fit and mag, in saying you should be prepared for inordinate disagrees and agrees on anything political, and expecting rationality in vote casting here might be a touch hopeful.

Bonne chance....

... silly... ?

My mother was the source of many pearls of wisdom including this one that pertains to the exchange I recently had with the Wiseguy:

Silly questions deserve silly answers.

jman1961 commented 149 days ago.
To Irishgit: thanks for the comment. I'm not looking for rationality, but maturity and character, i.e., the 'backing up' of the 'disagree' vote can be pure dog poop, but the voter 'put it out there', so to speak. No intent to provoke here, but I do recall looking at some of your posts after I joined (your stuff is worth reading), and I recall one thread where you 'called out' people who were casting 'nay' votes on an earlier post by you. If I'm mixing you up with someone else, I apologize.

And Fit: Your mom was all over it. But sometimes responding to something 'silly' with something substantive can yield greater rewards.

Lastly, I don't give two sh*ts about 'stats'; that's for Facebook and MySpace junior high-schoolers. I wanted to make a point, which by the increased postings, I have.

Thanks, all.
Now it's time for a beer.

You're probably not mixing me up. I periodically succumb to calling folks out for what appear to be agenda driven or otherwise unsupported votes. I'm not immune to the hopeful fantasy of finding rationality either... ;-)

This frosty Heineken that I hold in my presently nicotine stained fingers has me feeling like I've found it, for now anyways!
Btw, I'm very happy for your daughter. Continued blessings for her, and you as well.
