Friedrich 1

I've had 3 Friedrich ACs die in 9 years. First one lasted 5 years, second one 3 years, and third one lasted 1 year. In my experience, they don't perform any better than cheaper brands, and they certainly don't last as long as other brands. They may have been good at one time but the quality is terrible at this point.

Additionally, they're way over-priced. I just bought a new LG for $259, which is replacing my 1 year old Friedrich that cost almost $600 and the LG is cooling much better. (same BTU rating)

I will never buy another Friedrich.

I have to agree - Friedrich once made good air conditioners. Not any more.

I live in a five-floor Brownstone in Brooklyn, New York, one apartment per floor. Friedrich air conditioners on 4 of the five floors. This year my neighbors and I bought four (4) new Friedrich air conditioners - three Quietmaster models and one X-Star model. All four have defective timers. Calls to Friedrich's customer service department accomplished nothing. I cannot get service on the machines because Friedrich tells me the parts are just defective, they have nothing to replace the defective parts with. Their solution was to let me go to a hardware store to buy a timer. The Quietmaster I just bought cost over $920; not worth the huge price difference compared to the competition.

I have bought nothing but Friedrich air conditioners for over thirty (30) years; I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FRIEDRICH AIR CONDITIONER.
