Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) reprimands a brigadier general for calling her "ma'am."

I have yet to see a video clip that gives enough context for me to decide whether or not she overreacted.
If she was the only person in attendance who wasn't being addressed as senator, then I think she had cause to correct him, although her manner in doing so could have been a bit less snide. Otherwise it was probably uncalled for, and likely in response to other interactions in the male-dominated political spectrum.
In either case, the amount of conversation this trivial 17 second clip has sparked seems a bit absurd.
Update: I get it now. Waxing speculative is fun and easy!
Please give me time to formulate an elaborately presumptuous opinion on this important matter based upon the sole fact that I have 26 years experience being female. That's apparently the only qualification I need to manufacture the experiences and thoughts held by Boxer and Every Woman Alive, (and dead) Forever.
Stay tuned. :P
