Nutro Ultra 1

I had fed my dogs nutro natural choice lamb and rice about 5 years ago. one day I came home from work and my beautiful Irish Setter was dead. I was very very upset. My wife and I took her to the vet to have an Icropsey done better known as an autopsey. 17 vets from a vey well known veterinary college all said it was due to the food we were giving her. So naturaly we stopped this food. we also had 2 other dogs to worry about. Our Irish setter had toxic gut from the famous nutro. Then I called the company they just ignored what I said and responded with it wasn t from their food.I have recently saw on the web site that this poisonous company that are Killing dogs all over the country have a multitude of class action law suits against them. All I can say is they need to be shut down before they kill any more of our family members. Asfar as the nutro reps are concerned for everyones sake they are just people that work weekends that make extra money to help push this dog food for the stores revenue.I hope everyone reads this article and takes my advice. I now have been using Blue Bufallo senior formula with no problems. although the transition period should be over a 2 week period. This is to get the dogs used to a healthy diet as opposed to the other junk food that is out there. To put simply its like eating fast food your whole life then eating a well balanced diet. this is done to prevent shock to your system.

I have to majorly dissagree with your comment. First of all I'm a rep and I actually do care a lot about dogs and their nutrition. I had been using nutro for 2 years before I started working for the company and since I have been working for them I have saved many dogs in my neighborhood from the same horrible allergies and skin problems that my dog had. Don't generalize us all WE DONT GET PAID OFF COMMISION and our company works with the waltham institute & vets regularly to ensure that our food is the best of the best. We have been around for 80 + years, if we didnt' care we wouldnt be around. I am sorry to hear about your dog, I would have been very upset too but you must consider other factors.

Samelaine, Nutro Pet Foods DID exist for 80+ years. They no longer exist, really. Nutro is no longer an independant company, but just another subsidiary of the Mars candy company, a company that does not care about pet health. Period. Regardless of what your boss tells you, despite all the corporate propaganda you have been taught, Nutro foods are no longer worthwhile, and are getting less and less so with every reformulation.

Funny you say corporate propaganda.... have you ever seen an ad? No, our food sells itself. I used it two years BEFORE I started working for the company. I'm getting my doctorate in physical therapy so Im not the idiot robot you make me out to be. Yes, mars bought out nutro....Im aware. They reformulated and took out the garlic and kelp , I feed ultra to my dog and hes basically my child. LiKE I said I sympathize for those who have had problems but it is the only thing that has healed my dog and other dogs around in my neighborhood. Nutro utra has done things for my dog VETS couldnt do. Too bad you cant post pictues on this site.

No, your food DOESN'T sell itself. It's sold by representative such as you, aggressively campaigning in pet stores every Saturday and Sunday. Representatives who may be well educated, but usually with no independant knowledge about pet food and nutrition. Even when it comes to the reformulation... your boss told you that Nutro took the kelp and garlic out of the Ultra line, so as far aqs you know, that is the only nutritional change in Ultra. The reality is that yes, garlic and kelp are gone, but so is a significant portion of the meat, and more rice has been added. Also, I was mistaken in another post... Nutro HAS added corn to their Ultra line, in the large breed formulas. Such a shame. As a nutritionist, I used to recommend this food. But the candy company is ruining it. If you thoroughly read the ingredients, you'd know just how deleterious these reformulations have been.

My dog (a Border Collie mix) was eating a grocery store brand of dog food for three years when her world came crashing down. Right before her 3rd birthday, she was admitted to the vet as a result of excessive bleeding and vomitting. My beautiful baby girl was dying! She was diagnosed with Addison's disease (a defective adrenal gland), congential arthritis, and later a defective thyroid. She spent the following years walking with a painful gait, her hair always looked brittle and unhealthy, and her energy level was low. As a last attempt, I decided to feed her Nutro Ultra (a holistic food) and the difference was dramatic! Her hair fell out (that scared me), but she grew back the most silky, full black coat. The sparkle came back to her face and she has started running, digging in the yard, and chasing her favorite yellow ball. If I had only known what this diet could have done for her. I am not a sales rep., I am an elementary school teacher who loves her dog and has cleaned out her savings several times to save my baby's life. I give Nutro Ultra all the credit. I am by no means saying that this is the only quality food out there, but I know it saved her quality of life.
