Wellness 5

I was feeding my dog Eukanuba for her entire life. Wish I would have known better. She is in her senior years and we had noticed her slowing down. Three months ago my vet recommended a higher quality food, so we went with Wellness. I just wish I would have fed her this stuff years ago. Her coat has never been this shiny in her 10 years and the shedding has decreased. She has a very sensitive stomach, bouts of pancreatitis several times from getting into the trash can (she is a beagle...what can I say). Her poop was runny for about a week, but now they are firm, and in fact she defecates less because the food is not filled with filler. The best thing though, she now can walk with me again, wants to play again. I truly believe this food will give us a few more years than we may have had, and for that, I thank Wellness.

I highly recommend the canned and dry together, and as others have said, it isn't the food that is bad, its that your dog didn't tolerate it.

lnorton, your statement may be true in some cases, but not in others. If you go back far enough you'll find that some dogs, mine included, were doing very well and quite happily on their Wellness dry and canned; had "tolerated" it well for years. There was some kind of change in the recipe or ingredients or SOMEthing at the same time the packaging changed and the food was offered at the big box pet stores. My beloved Standard Poodles, 7- and 14-years-old and of different breeding lines, began to exhibit stool problems, then a reticence to eat, then vomiting and soupy diarrhea, ultimately refusing, wisely, to eat at all.

There had been no problems earlier. After going through 3 separate bags I finally stopped feeding it to them. So, my 55- and 70-pound MopTops who had handled it and done very well for many years, stopped tolerating it at all and very suddenly, as have others posting earlier as well. While your statement may be correct in some cases it may not be in others. And please, I have no axe to grind with the manufacturer; just trying to share our experience, as is asked by the RateItAll! web site.
