Isagenix 2

I bought into the Isagenix thing based on my parents who are in their late 50s. Both of them lost weight immediately and were singing the praises. No shock, their trainer at the gym was the one who sold them on it. Then she sold me.

I followed the program pretty spot on. I did the two shakes a day, no caffeine, no fast food, and a sensible meal. I also exercised just about every day, with heavy cardio (eliptical trainer and running) and weights. I did lose about 10 lbs. and a pant size. Then, I went camping one weekend and couldn't bring a blender. I decided that I wanted to be as good as possible, so I chopped up two large freezer bags of veggies, brought fruits, turkey sausage for the grille instead of hot dogs, etc. And I hiked for hours each day.

I came home 4 lbs. heavier.

Here is the real deal-your body processes liquid faster than it does solid. If I go to McDonalds and get a milkshake twice a day, and eat a sensible meal, I will still lose weight. Couple that with the large amounts of chromium in the products which speed up your metabolim, and then take one day a week where you don't eat anything at all, it is no wonder that you are going to lose it. You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars a month on the shakes, cleanse, Ionix Supreme, IsaFlush, etc. to get that result.

The funny thing is, if you question the people selling it about maintaining your weight once you reach it, they will say that you can cut back to one shake a day and one cleanse a month (at least what I've been told). So basically according to them, you have to stay on this diet forever.

The final straw was my acupuncturist telling me to get off of it. She said to make a lifestyle change, to stay away from frozen food, the soda, the fast food, and caffeine, and exercise and I would lose weight the right way.

I'd like to comment on PinkNails recent posting. I am a retired physician and IN NO WAY part of the Isagenix corporate structure, only a recent (less than 2 months) user of their products.

I must comment first on the accuracy of PinkNails comment "the body processes liquids faster than it does solid" (as though this might have an impact on weight gain/loss). The breakdown of solid foods begins in the stomach and early small intestine as hydrochloric acid, bile, amylase, mucus, etc. are added to the "food slurry". Water resorption does not significantly occur until the entire process reaches the colon, where the solidification of stool occurs irrespective of whether it started as solid or liquid. An entirely liquid diet consisting of high calories and fat will cause the same weight gain as a solid diet of similar composition.

Perhaps you should have waited until you had properly rehydrated yourself and passed a substantial amount of feces (BM) prior to weighing yourself after you returned from your weekend of eating in the woods before you assumed that you had permanently increased your weight by 4 lbs.

You MUST be joking for comparing consuming twice a day of a 16 oz. McDonalds shake (EACH: 580 calories, 120 calories from fat, 50 mg. cholesterol, 102 g. total carbohydrates, etc.) with 8 oz. of the IsaLean shake (EACH: 240 calories, 40 calories from fat, 35 mg. cholesterol, 28 g. total carbohydrates, etc.) + 8 oz. of water (recommended) and stating that there's no difference in the likelihood of weight loss. The McDonalds shakes, by themselves, would add an extra 4000 calories PER WEEK if consumed twice per day times 6 days per week compared to the Isagenix product. Perhaps you should see the movie "Supersize Me" if you have any doubts as to effect of these worthless calories.

As for your statement about chromium increasing metabolism... the total amount of daily chromium in 2 IsaLean shakes and 2 "Natural Accelerator" capsules per day yields 340 mcg. of chromium which is WELL WITHIN the current accepted values to reduce serum choelsterol levels, aid in insulin effectiveness with resulting consistent blood sugar levels, and improved fat metabolism. There is no chromium listed in the IsaFlush, Ionix Supreme or Cleanse for Life products.

I really do suggest that you might try to have some scientific or factual evidence before making the statements that you have in your posting. I believe that you provided misleading information to those who read your comments and might have thought that you spoke from concrete knowledge. In any case, good luck with your weight control, in whatever form it comes.
