There's advantages to both.

Frinstince, I feel safe from sharks up in the mountains and my mind is free from the fear of cougar attacks while I'm snorkeling...

I saw lots of cougars on the beach when I was at an all-inclusive resort in the Mayan Riviera. They were the ones in the spotted bikinis.
