Thrifty Car Rental 1

I rented from Tampa, Florida on July 15, 2009. I had a 2008 Dodge Calibur. It worked ok until the last day when the battery died. I called Tampa airport and they were so far way and never picked up the phone. So I had to call Sarasota and they had to send someone to help jump start the battery. After they jumpstarted the battery I asked, "What if this happens again?". The gentlemen replied that I would just have to call them again. So about two hours later I am ready to go to the airport and the car would not start. I called Sarasota and they said they would call me right back with someone on their way and they never did. So then I called them and had to find someone else to come help me because the mechanic could not make it. Finally, someone shows up and jumps my car. I asked, "Why did they not give me another car?". And he said he didn't know why. So I had to drive straight from being jumped for 2 hours to the airport without stopping otherwise I would not have made it to the airport with a working car or would have been on time. I lost a day of plans because I was driving a car with a dead battery and no one at Tampa wanted to help me. I complained and they gave me 1 day off and that was it. I will NEVER rent from them again. I called their Customer Service and complained and they gave me voucher that does not even cover for one day. Like I would try them again. If you are alone or have family and want to be safe; DO NOT RENT FROM THRIFTY.

I also experience a problem with Thrifty at TPA. The car was OK, but I was "scammed" into adding my wife as a 2nd driver ($106 additional) or they would not honor the reservation that was made in my name. The agent said my card declined (no customer care at the bank on Sunday) which I knew was 100% incorrect. My wife used her card (SAME ACCOUNT!!!) which went through just fine. Hardsell on upgrading and insurance, and they don't take kindly to "no" Called the back Monday and guess what? NO ATTEMPT HAD BEEN MADE!!!!! No approval, no decline, no NOTHING! Do yourself a favor and use a reputable car rental service... nothing puts a damper on vacation more than getting screwed out of $106 as soon as you step off the plane!!!!!
