Science Diet 1

I'm reading quite a number of reviews from people who swear by this food because their vet recommends it. I work for a vet and like others have mentioned, the doctors get kickbacks from the Hills for promoting and selling their crappy food. To make it worse some of those prescription formulas are like fifty bucks for a twenty pound bag and the main ingredients are corn and by product meal. I never recommend Science Diet to any of our clients even though I could get in trouble for doing so. There are many food on the market that are of much better quality for the same price.

I've worked in vet clinics for more than two decades. I've been in charge of purchasing supplies, including foods, for several clinics over the years. And in all that time, the only "kickbacks" I've seen from Hills (or, more recently, Colgate Palmolive, parent company of Hills) are the usual pens, notepads, clipboards, shirts, and windbreakers. The profit margin on Hills maintenance formulas is minimal. I'm not sure what kickbacks you are refering to, but it's odd that none of my clinics have ever recieved any.
