Ol' Roy is the Walmart brand of dogfood.

Ol' Roy 5

My dogs have been eating Ol' Roy dog food for several years now. I have had no bad experiences with this; my dogs love it. For me and my dogs there is no need to pay for all the added extras that come with some of the higher priced bags. More importantly how can anyone really trust half of the terrible reviews when people are posting reviews with misspelled words (when there is a spell check provided) and poor grammar. Buying off brand foods does not mean that I do not love my dogs, they have been such loving assets to my family especially towards my children. So if someone would like to explain to me how I do not love my dogs because I buy Ol' Roy I am all ears.

And I could eat twinkies and potato chips for years, and appear normal... but would that make me healthy?

Table scraps are MUCH healthier than what is in many dog foods these days

There are so many things wrong with your comment. I don't even know where to begin.

First of all, living to an old age is NOT synonymous with "healthy" or "thriving." Like the last poster said, you can eat junk food all your life and still live to be old, but that in no way means that you will be healthy or truly thrive. Also, sometimes organ failure caused by an overall terrible diet doesn't appear until the dog is quite old.

Second of all, the fact that you consider Beneful and Nutro "premium" compared to Ol' Roy or Purina shows how ignorant you really are. They are all quite on par with each other. None of those foods have much if any meat content. Learn to read an ingredient panel and you will see for yourself.

And you're right, your dog doesn't care how "premium" its food is, that's why it's your job to care as a responsible owner of a CARNIVORE. My dog would eat garbage for the rest of his life if he was given the opportunity. They don't have the ability to discriminate whether a food is "healthy" or "expensive" or "premium." They either like the taste or they don't. Dogs like the taste of anti-freeze. What does that tell you? Nothing.

And yes, I agree that table scraps are far healthier than feeding a cereal grain kibble. Dogs are carnivores. End of story. I'll save the cereal grain-based kibble for the chickens to peck at, thanks.

I agree with both comments. Do you wonder why it's such an inexpensive dog food? The fillers (yeah, fillers.) are very cheap. Corn has been proven to be an allergen to a lot of breeds of dogs, too.

Perhaps you should start believing that research. It's been done for a reason.

I would never even DREAM of feeding my dogs Ol' Roy... And I've had dogs my whole life too. Riveting.

You could have turned the dog into a professional rescue if you couldn't afford to feed it a decent food.

What part of the premium food do find to be a load of crap? The real meat? The nutrients? The lack of animal by-products? Interesting, you think the premium stuff is "a load of crap" when I can almost guarantee you'd find real "crap" in the cheap-o brands.

I really hope your poor dogs don't suffer from lack of nutrition, or an allergy to corn down the road. I pity the dogs.

I hope your dogs don't suffer from you being a stupid conceded bitch. But hey sometimes the pets can't pick the owners...

mssjnnfer commented 80 days ago.
LOL! You're right about them not being able to pick their owners. Yet another reason I pity your dogs.

A good day to you!

Oh whats wrong? Don't want to sit on a review site and get to vent how everything you do is right? Is it because your husband is tired of listening to you walk around the house on your almighty alter of all knowing, oh wait your probably that lonely women who calls her dogs their kids because you cannot find any man to love you maybe its the coffee stained teeth or the dog hair all over you place maybe you should find a proper hobby or filler (yah, filler) to take up that empty void in your life instead of focusing on what is the greatest dog food to give to your amazing pet. But if you would like in your free time in an attempt to stay friends maybe you can send some coupons for some dollars off an off brand dog food because hey, my dog is happy in her loving home with the food she has. Where even her owners eat off brand foods but maybe we should switch over to name brands only so we don't suffer from lack of nutrition. Ill do some research and let you know how that turns out. So have a great day and hey keep your head up life gets better :)

LOL. Allow me to laugh again. LOL.

Just for clarification, dear, but *I* was not the one to originally write a review on dog food. That would be you. I'm sure you don't focus your time on your dog food at all... hence the shitty food choice.

Perhaps the next time you decide to try and "cut someone down" (and trust me, your post was a pretty pathetic attempt at it) ... you should probably gain some knowledge of how the English language works. Punctuation, spelling, grammar. It's what makes people look and sound intelligent.

By-products,

BHA,

Artificial preservatives

Thinking about feeding your dog Ol’ Roy dog food? If so please think again. Ol’ Roy dog food is probably the worst dog food on the market right now. I wouldn’t feed Ol’ Roy dog food to my worst enemies dog. Ol’ Roy dog food and treats have been involved in numerous dog food recalls.

First five Ol’ Roy dog food Ingredients:

Ground yellow corn
soybean meal
ground whole wheat
corn syrup
poultry fat
I have looked at the first five ingredients of a lot of dog food brands and I have come to the conclusion that this is the worst first five ingredients I have ever seen. First of the first ingredients of Ol’ Roy dog food in CORN. Corn is pretty much useless as far as a nutrition stand point. Corn does your dog absolutely no good. If that wasn’t bad enough lets go head and through some grains in the first five AND THEN lets through sugar in the first five. Who puts sugar in the first five ingredients of dog food? Are you kidding me?

A lot of people decide to buy Ol Roy dog food based on the fact that it is cheap. Thinking like this will catch up to you in vet bills. Your going to take your dog to the vet twice as much as you would if you fed your dog a healthier brand of food.

When looking for dog food, look for a brand that has at least two sources of meat in the first five ingredients, and contains no corn or grains.

you know its really funny because everybody's idea of a healthy diet "Is in the eyes of the beholder." Ole Roy has been around for a long time, but then again so has Mc.Donalds. Cheap, tastey and terribly unhealthy. Some dogs may be fine on Ole Roy, and do fine. Why? Because many animals can naturally adapt to digest whats offered to them. As are humans. Can an Ole Roy dogs health performance be enhanced by a healthier and balanced food such as Blue Buffalo? Absolutely. Like day and Night. But you are going to get what you pay for. I would personally never feed OR recommend Ole' Roy because I personally choose a more quality food. As I would not choose to eat fast food. I would choose something home made or more organic.
I guess its all about lifestyle, and I am not going to say this original poster is all wrong, just not educated on animal nutrition.
