Blue Buffalo Dog Food

I only gave this food three stars because I am a bit confused about it right now. I have been feeding my 9 year old min pin the senior formula for awhile, and he loves it. He has always been a bit on the chunky side, and this food has not changed his weight, but his stools are super firm, and he only goes twice a day. His coat has improved since he has been eating it also! (had him on Nutro for YEARS prior) I adopted a lab/hound mix puppy from a shelter a little over a month ago, and was excited to start feeding him Blue. I was planning on doing the "proper" transition, but he would not touch the Science Diet the shelter had him on, so I just switched him to Blue all together. Unlike my min pin, my puppy is having terrible gas and loose stool. At first I thought this could be due to the transition, but it has been over a month now, and it still the same. He did have worms when I first adopted him, but those have since been treated. He is putting on weight nicely, and his coat looks great, but the loose poop is getting hard to deal with! I think this food ( the lamb puppy formula) just might be rich for him. I will continue to feed the senior Blue to my min pin, but I think I am needing the switch my puppy to another food. Does anyone have any suggestions? I wanted to avoid products with corn, and food that has a recall history. I always had good luck with Nutro in the past, but the recalls make me nervous!! Help!
Update- I switched Charlie from Blue over to Natural Balance- the sweet potato venison formula. After just a week, he has done a complete turn around! His stool is FINALLY firm! No more squirts!! I did change my rating of Blue to 4 stars opposed to the 3 I rated it prior. My min pin thrives on Blue, and I do not believe Charlie's issues were due to anything wrong with the Blue. I am pretty sure Charlie was allergic to something in the food. ( guessing the lamb) I considered switching him to the Blue chicken puppy formula, but opted for an LID diet with an uncommon protein after much research. Charlie and I are both happy! ;)
