The third, and by far the toughest leg of the American Triple Crown, a mile and a half route that has been the nemesis of many great horses.

For me, it will always be special, because it was at this event in 1973 that Secretariat put on a performance for the ages, blowing down some strong competitors to set the World 12 furlong record in spectacular fashion.
