Curtains for Drabinsky?

Canada's biggest impresario has always known how to create a spectacle. Now he's become one himself.


For more than a quarter century, Canadian entertainment mogul Garth Drabinsky has craved the spotlight. Today, he's living proof that people should be careful what they ask for.

On Wednesday, the man sometimes known as Garth Vader was sentenced to 7 years in jail for his role in a half-billion-dollar fraud at the helm of his theatre production company, Livent, largely known for its blockbuster musicals.

It's no surprise to hear that Drabinsky - presumably still a wealthy man - will be appealing his sentence, and given the stature of his rock-star lawyers, that he manages to find himself free on bail.
