Radio Habana Social Club

A charming little bar with a surreal, often retro and rather witty collection of stuff stuck to the walls. It would feel dive-y except that it's relatively bright and they often welcome in the mariachi band to do a few numbers. Radio Habana Social Club feels like your average corner bar if you happened to live in Havana, Cuba.
The older woman manning the bar when we went the other night was friendly and talkative. Normally this place is mobbed on weekends, but it's a fun place to hit on your way to dinner on a weeknight for a more laid back feel.
I tried the sangria. It was decent, nothing special, but worth the modest price. They have a very small beer and wine list. Go here for the ambiance, not the selection. It's a nice break from the standard weekend vibe in the Mission.
Where other bars aspire towards superficial hipster-cool vibes, Radio Habana is itself and nothing more, and that self has more soul than almost anywhere I've been in the neighborhood.
