Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance 1

I had been using NB Duck & Sweet Potato for over a year with great success. In August my Irish Setter stopped eating entirely - took her to the Vet where she continued not to eat for 3 days. We ended up feed ing her hand to mouth with eggs and cottage cheese until her stomach returned to normal. We thought she ingested something or contracted a virus. We started her back on NB Duck & Sweet Potato again and the symptoms reappeared once more. Then I checked this blog and realized that it was the NB food. The new mix is crapola and anyone that loves their dog should stay away from it. There is a comment above that says we should have checked the bag and then to introduce the food slowly. Well I am sorry to say to that person that when you trust a manufacturer and there is not any indication warning to the consumer that the formula has been substituted with junk we feed it to our dogs out of trust of the manufacturer. Other companies put notes inside of their bags to the consumer that the formula has changed. PLEASEDON"T USE THIS FOOD and I would recommend not trusting any of the Natural Balance mixes because if they change Duck & Sweet Potato without notifying the consumer what is to say that they won't change the other formulas to 'save production costs, decrease the size and increase the cost'. One more thing - answering Jak above - I am referring to the substitution of duck meal with duck protein - furthermore duck protein could be composed of duck bills, dick feet and duck feathers.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the duck it seems to be a constant thing for dogs with sensitives stomachs. But on the other hand your giving the company a bad name misinforming people they added POTATO PROTEIN not duck protein they actually added fresher and more duck rather than the meal..the second ingredient is DUCK not the duck meal people should be happy that its duck rather than a meal I guess some dogs can handle fresher protein and some cant. PS theres a HUGE Sticker on every bag stating "NEW AND IMPROVED" formula and its on the website.

Princess21 - You are obviously a 'good company' employee. Please forward me the address of your company so that my lawyer could forward my vet bills to Natural balance. Thank you.

If you check the website the address is RIGHT THERE IN PLAIN SITE....lol

Thanks Princess 21 - My comment was sent to see if you would deny being a NB employee - now I know that you are a NB employee just protecting your job. Good Luck, may I recommend a career change so that you are not sticking up for a company that is making valuable pets sick.

Our golden became sick on the "new and improved" formula. She is now on Taste of the Wild dog food and is doing great. It's a limited ingredient diet and is comparably priced. Hope this helps your Irish Setter!

burnettew - thank you for your post; Ironically I switched to Taste of the Wild about 8 weeks ago, after I realized the problem with Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Duck. My Irish Setters adjusted immediately to Taste of the Wild and have been doing fine since I dicarded all of my Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Duck. What a shame because it used to be a fine dog food until they screwed up the formula.
