Dillard's
1
For recent college graduates,
I would only recommend this job to those unable to find work. I have a lot of regrets choosing this company and not taking my other offers that were available upon graduating. The hours, pay, and no job security. I worked about 9-10 hour days unless there was a visit, then it was around 12-14 hour work week (you have visits once a month). I HAD to give up my days off for weeks that we had a visit. You RARELY get back to back days off, which isn't to bad, but it hard to make plans when you are off like Monday and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays when all the rest of the world is off on Saturdays and Sundays. I was treated terrible by my assistant and store manager, but I know the stress they are going through because they are getting yelled at constantly. You are in charge of and evaluated on sells for your area. How are you supposed to increase sales if the advertising department cant bring people into the store? You get in trouble with sales being down, even with the economy is doing poorly. So where is the incentive to work if you are unlikely to get a raise at the end of the year, there are no incentives and no bonuses? My store manager was stressed and scared about losing her job, which carried over to the area sales managers, which then carried into the sales associates. I wish I would of read something like this message im posting today before I accepted the job. While working as an Area Sales Manager I had no job security, long hours, and recieved terrible pay. I stayed with the company about a year due to my apartment lease. If I didnt have a lease, I would have probably been out of there within 2 months. So for those college graduates looking to work for Dillard's, please rethink about it. I would try living in a hotel for a month just to see if you can stand it. But for those graduates with no offers available yet, try it out for 6 months and then look for better opportunity out there. This job gave me a consistant pay check for a year, but I also felt like I lost a year when I could have been starting a CAREER, instead of working a JOB.
