Clash (Clash)

One of the all-time most explosive rock moments. This didn't get released in the U.S. until two yrs after the UK original. I've heard that the mix on the UK version is superior, but at least the US version also includes sides from essential 77/78 singles like "White Man in Hammersmith Palais". This is bracing punk music with (on several tracks) a sharp reggae bite and working class vocals that howl like revolutionaries. There's not a bad track in the bunch. Any band that can cover both Bobby Fuller's garage rock classic "I Fought the Law" and Junior Marvin's reggae masterpiece "Police and Thieves" and blow away the originals on both counts is something special to behold.
