Oh, how I do love Greek food! I can remember the first time I ever tried it – strangely it was at a small Greek restaurant in Hawaii. But it was owned and operated by Greeks and completely authentic – not a slice of pineapple in sight. This was the first time I experienced stuffed cabbage leaves and that gem of all cheeses – feta! It was love at first bite. Later I moved on to the wonderful salads with Greek olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion and a scoop of potato salad in the bottom of the bowl, gyros and the dozens of other delights. An added bonus is that Mediterranean food in general tends to be on the healthy side. I can’t remember the name of the little place in Hawaii just outside Honolulu, but I will recommend Pappas – an excellent old and respected restaurant in Tarpon Springs, Florida! You won’t be sorry.
