This could be good as long as it's not abused. People who want to get to know each other better can chat with each other. If someone has a problem with another poster, than they can just it over in PM's rather than clogging up the boards with their fights. The downside is that some people are immature jerks who feel the need to attack people who don't agree with them. I think we should be able to block certain posters from sending us PM's, if they feel the need to ause this function.
