Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in much of North America. The holiday was celebrated on various occasions before in the US, but on October 3, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln designated the last Thursday of every November to be a national day of Thanksgiving; On November 26, 1941 President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a law to have Thanksgiving Day moved to the fourth Thursday of every November. Canadians have been celebrating Thanksgiving on the second Monday in October since 1957.

Thanksgiving, along with Independence Day, is a very important American holiday. It is the day we give thanks to the Indians who saved the Pilgrims from starvation.
