I was the one that suggested this entry of iMac G4, because I believe there's a big difference between it and the old G3 iMacs (for which I think most of the comments came in the original non-specific Apple iMac entry). I'm very glad to see it's finally gotten enough response to get on the list (and rise all the way to the top).
I love my iMac. The compact size, the quietness, the extra-long 17" screen, the beauty and simplicity of *most* of its applications, are all huge plusses in iMac's favor.
I love the Mac OS X operating system, the iLife applications, and even Apple's free downloadable web browser Safari.
One warning to anyone wanting to switch from Windows to Mac... Get Microsoft Office. It's expensive but you can sometimes get a good deal if you get it along with the purchase of the computer itself (I missed that special discount by a couple days and really regret it). That's the only problem with Apple is that the AppleWorks word processor completely sucks compared to MS Word. A commercial alternative to MS Office and AppleWorks called ThinkFree Office, which is allegedly more MS-like, sucks only slightly less but still sucks in different ways. Even if you're jaded about Microsoft (*even* if you were a victim of Windows Millenium Edition like I was), Microsoft Office--or at least Microsoft Word--is the one Microsoft product you'll just have to accept, no matter how strong your allegiance is to Apple (trust me, I'm finding this out first-hand).
Otherwise, the iMac is a real jewel of a computer.
