Since 1788, the primary basis of Australian culture has been Anglo-Celtic, although distinctive Australian features soon arose from the country's unique environment and the pre-existing indigenous culture. Over the past 50 years, Australian culture has been strongly influenced by American popular culture (particularly television and cinema), large-scale immigration from non-English-speaking countries and Australia's Asian neighbours. The vigour and originality of the arts in Australia—literature, cinema, opera, music, painting, theatre, dance, and crafts—have achieved international recognition. (Wikipedia)

A fantastic place to live, even with the PC socialist media (Murdoch et al) brainwashing the people into believing anything Christian, western or based on European culture is something to be shunned embarrassed about. Pretty strange for a country that has been discribed to me as More like the US than Canada, and in many ways more free. The socialist Green party is slowly raising it's head, which means more and more anti-human legislation, except of course if you're Aboriginal. These believers in the strange notion that CO2 is pollution are spreading like a cancer, which will inevitably force industry off shore, something to remember if contemplating emmigrating. Flora and fauna are fabulous, cities are clean and safe, but be careful of locales with high Muslim populations, especially in Sydney and especially if you're female. There has been a number of pretty nasty gang rapes by Lebanese men on non-Muslim women, although the politically correct cappucino slurpers will never talk about such problems. great country, even if it's residents are wandering around in a PC cloud of illogic looking at everything non-capitalist as some kind of utopia while enjoying one of the best capitalist built societies on the planet.

Few points - firstly, isn't the latte rather than the cappucino the drink of choice for lefties in right-wing stereotypes? I could be wrong. This particular lefty is more partial to a glass of scotch straight up. I might add that Muslim men, women and children might want to watch out for rabbles of shirtless, white bogans. That one goes both ways, kid. Finally, just to make sure you don't think I'm too rabid a lefty, I should point out that Greens being 'socialist' would necessitate them having an economic policy, which I'm sure we can both agree they don't. And I'm pretty sure you're a little paranoid there about them rising up - they ain't going anywhere.
