Velvet Jones, Kill My Landlord (his debut), his Jamaican reggae star ("kill all the white people...but buy my record 1st"), Mr. Rogers, James Brown celeb hot tub, Little Richard Simmons, BuckWheat, Gumby, Stevie Wonder, the angry Black Panther ("so I messed up - SHUT UP!") - he took Pryor to the next level. Anytime you see a black comic on TV, you're seeing a reheated, blander Murphy. In Living Color was influenced by him, as was Def Comedy Jam, Comic View, etc.. The most amazing run of success I've ever seen in comedy. I want to penalize him for not being a TRUE stand-up comic and for all the crap that came after, but I can't bring myself to do it!
