ummmmm... actually only our ships, HH. and other modes of transport are Dept of Trans..... The Coast Guard is in direct operation of Dept of Homeland Sec, which is still activated and viewed as DOD when congress signs or our nation is at war. They are very much a servace, which is why our meps, and some base housing is still DOD.
