Travis Pastrana's MX/SX career was a little disappointing, to be honest. That said, he can be credited as one of the athelets who has taken freestyle motocross from the anals of dark, dingy, Metal Mulisha style "thugs" and turned it into a family friendly affair (Nate Adams, with a sponsorship from Target, no less, was also part of this "clean up" of the FMX image). Pastrana is a man without fear, and an incredible sense of showmanship, if only he could stay focussed on one sport for less than twenty seconds. He has litterally, pretty much, done it all. He's a Jack of All Trades, and inspite of his double-backflip, I would argue he's a Master of None. Great rider potentially, but his lack of focus seriously hurts his ability to compete.
Still, the Nitro Circus videos are entertaining to watch, even if they are becoming increasingly less about motocross, supercross, FMX and off-road riding (my favourite line will always be Street Bike Tommy at Erzberg "I think Enduros are stupid, and people are dumb for doing them.") and more about Jackass style stunts involving motorized vehicles.
