Some folks revel in this kind of stuff, but militarism just makes me sad.

I don`t `revel` in military shows, but neither do they inspire mawkish and simplistic political sentiments in me, as apparently they do in others.

I`ve been in San Francisco during fleet week, and its an interesting time, and the Angels performance is certainly impressive.

This is one of the best festivals in San Francisco, and for me it has a lot to do with the Blue Angels thundering across the sky during the airshow. It was nice to see the practice show this year from the roof of RIA HQ. Here's a photo I clicked from when they flew over the hood:

5/5 This is a very well done event. It's held each September on Treasure
Island on a big grassy area overlooking San Francisco. The weather is
usually perfect in September in SF, and the views from TI are spectacular.
It's a two day lineup - last year I saw Vampire Weekend, Tegan and Sara,
CSS, Okervil River, and a bunch of other fantastic bands.

This year, among others, MGMT and Passion Pit are playing. The Saturday
tends towards the electronic and the Sunday towards the indie.

They run free buses from ATT Park across the bridge, and they're running
almost constantly to and from.

Highly recommended.

I was much too young to have been at woodstock, but I've seen alot of footage of the festival. I got say the raw energy and genius and improv in Jimi's set was outta sight!!

By far when of the worst concerts I've ever been to. They played the same venue as Disturbed last summer ( which wasn't that good either). However they could play a good tune to save their fucking lives. Their stage show was that of a fifth rated kiss, with plenty of fire and other bullshit gimicks to draw in concert goers. The goddamn masks are just stupid. I really do miss the days of honest heavy metal before all this nu-metal shit.

Overrated band. I am embrassed to admit that I saw them live last summer. Only reason I went is that a friend of mine talked me into it. A very lackluster show. It was like going to go see a casterated verison of Pantera with a meat head lead singer that makes idiot there think that they are actually listening to something edgey when it is just top 40 hard rock. P.S. not a dig at pantera, because they actually did the heavy metal thing right.

I recently saw them live at All points west festival in NJ. I would compare their Performance as that of a contempary version of Pink Floyd. The light show and back drops were definately conductive to the mood of the music and very much a darker more agressive throwback to Floyd's performances. Plus the music improvisation really added to the performance. The real icing on the cake for me was the fact maynard and the band didn't focus and lights on themselves so you could only see their sillouettes which really added to the mysteique of the performance.
