Not a bad park. A lil bit dirty and ranks about an average neighborhood park in NY. Comp is decent, but nothing to write home about.

This is an 8:30 or so run on Saturdays that gets up to three full court runs (outdoor).  The court is lousy concrete, and there are double rims.  There were a few ballers there, but it was mostly older guys looking to get some exercise.

I got there a little late, and played on the scrub court.  We won, and they tried to move up to the "A Court" and the folks on the court didn't want to let us on - they thought we weren't good enough.  It turns out, the A court wasn't that good either - my scrub team destroyed them.

That being said, it was a decent group of guys, and it seemed that there is a consistent run here.  It's no Santa Monica college though.

I ran here yesterday and it was one of the more competitive runs that I've seen in the last few years.  There were 2-3 courts going at any time, and there's an older guy who keeps the peace and resolves disuputes.

I walked in at about 8:30 and was immediately picked up by a squad looking for some size.  Everybody on my squad had a handle - Sticks, Chico, Term (Terminator) - it was like out of the And One Tour.  The three non point guards on my team were able to take alley oops in traffic and throw it down.

It was a lot of isolation ball - folks clearing out and breaking down their man one on one.  It's not really my favorite style, but everybody played very, very hard, and the athleticism was ridiculous.  I held my own by running the floor, playing all out D, and hitting the boards.  I didn't get a lot of looks on offense.  Because my team won four in a row on the A court, I got a little bit of respect.

After we had won a couple, a guy came up to me and asked me how it felt to be on "Black Wall Street" (I was one of two white guys out of 40 ballers or so in the gym).  It felt good.

If you can run with the big boys, definitely check out this run.  While there was some talking and chirping, for the most part there was no BS.  People played hard, and any disputes were quickly resolved by the older guy.

Good ball. Like to see them upgrade sometimes soon. Jimmy shoots too much.
